"Restore" 3-8-12

Galatians 6:1
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

What are we to do when one of our brothers or sisters in Christ get overtaken by sin? Some would ignore them, and some would excuse them, and some would even destroy them or simply gossip about them. But what does the Bible say we should do? Restore them. How? In the spirit of meekness or gentleness. How can I be meek when what they have fallen into is so horrible? Because when I really think about it truthfully, I understand that it could easily be me instead of them. Our God is a God of restoration, let's follow in His steps.

  1. Seems to me this falls under Jesus command to love one another. But once again to really love one another we must get our minds under control. Plus which sin would you think was worse than another? Tough questions- but yes to be able to minister to each other when needed is a true blessing of God as it allows each person involved to grow in the Lord. ken

  2. I believe that we need to listen to this word very sincerely. Since I have been a real Christian I have seen many fall back into sin as well as I myself experienced relaps from drug addiction. I am so greatful to those that helped restore me gently. Without such people and the Lord's mercy I know that I would be dead. I would be without my wife and children and they would be without me. That's enough for me to shout praises to God for the rest of my life!
