Genesis 33:4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.
Many years had passed since Jacob and Esau had seen each other, and Jacob didn't leave on the best of terms. He had deceived his brother Esau of his birthright, and then stole the blessing of the first born. Jacob left town in a hurry, afraid for his life, and rightly so. You can imagine when Jacob got word that his brother was headed his way that Jacob was very concerned. He strategically placed his large caravan in groups that went ahead of him in order to deliver gifts to Esau, and hopefully change his heart. Well, we don't know for sure if Esau was really coming to kill Jacob, but we do know that God intervened, because Esau wasn't the only one coming for Jacob. Laban was coming too, and with bad intentions, but God spoke to him and commanded Laban to leave him alone. God also confronted Jacob and changed his name as well as his heart. It would seem to make sense that God must have done some work on Esau too wouldn't it? Whatever the case, when these two feuding brothers met, they embraced each other and wept together. This passage clearly shows us that God can bring unity in even the most tense circumstances, if both parties are willing to let Him change their hearts. God, change our hearts today. Amen.
Amen isnt it funny how satan always attacked the 1st born son of every Godly family and it goes from the very beginning and on through today if we look at the situation closely wow thats something to think about thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteYes God can bring unity to the worst! I'm not sure how but I know that He does it. Usually, we get so angry at people that we love the most, and I can't stand being mad at the ones I love the most.
