Psalm 86:6 Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; and listen to the cry of my supplications.
Have you ever wondered if God was listening? We have all had times when it seemed like heaven was silent, and God did not hear our prayers. The psalmist here is asking God to "give ear" or listen to his supplications. The word "supplications" simply means "entreaties" or "prayers". Sometimes I catch myself praying to God in this frame of mind saying "God, I hope that you are hearing me, please listen to what I am asking of you!". I'm reminded of my son and how we can be looking at each other and talking and he will say "daddy......daddy.....daddy" until I recognize him by saying "yes son". It's like he wants to make sure that I am listening to what he has to say. He wants to know that I am focused upon his thoughts, problems, or desires. It's really a natural tendency for us to question whether or not God is paying attention, but today I want you to pray with a new faith knowing that you don't have to ask God to listen. I want you to pray in the spirit of Psalm 34:15 where the psalmist says "the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry". Your righteous standing has been given to you by Jesus Christ through His death and resurrection, and because of this, the Lords ears are always ready to listen. Amen
Sometimes I also feel like God is not listening or maybe He is but He is silent. I have to admit that my expectation's in my prayer life seems to be low these days. I'm not really sure why but I don't put a lot into it as I once have. I am consistent and honest whe I pray but I feel like He is in control and no matter what I want it does me no good to pray for one thing to go one way and another to go another way. My understanding of His will has become clouded since my daddy went to heaven. I'm just not sure of what He really wants other than salvation in our lifes. I know that trials and hardships are a part of life and we will go through them no matter how much we pray. But with that aside I know He loves us and wants us to have a good future and be blessed and live! God help me to know your will in my prayer life . Show me what I should pray for and about. In Jesus name.Amen
