Ephesians 1:19 ... and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.
Notice the words in our scripture today, "exceeding", "greatness", "working" and "mighty". All of these words describe the power that is the subject of this verse. I often feel powerless when left to myself. I have faced countless situations where it seemed that there was nothing that I could do on my own, but when I place my faith in this tremendous power, mountains that once stood in my way have to move! This is a good place to talk about another word in this verse, the word "His". There is a reason why Paul couldn't seem to find enough words to describe or measure the power that is "His". You can't measure it, and you don't have to, just "believe" that His power is greater than any other power there is. Did you catch that word? It's really the key to this verse. It's the word "believe". To believe in Him who brought Jesus up out of the grave and seated Him on the throne in heaven, is to receive that same power that is exceedingly great, and mighty in its working. Build our faith Lord. Amen.
His power is much greater than we realize. I believe that one reason for that can be understood by looking at a child. Children cannot handle the power of a chainsaw or a weed eater or a vehicle. We have to put age limits on things because a child would be hurt by the power of it. You don't let a toddler drive your Ford truck or cut the grass on a riding lawn mower. I think that we sometimes don't really believe that God's power is enough because we can't handle it. Too much would hurt us because we are not mature enough in the Lord to handle it. Our faith has to grow in step with revelation or revelation won't come. I hope that makes sense to ya'll.
ReplyDelete"Believe"...... a word that is simple yet complicated. God's power is so great, it's really impossible to tell how powerful God really is. Our problem well I should say my problem is simply believing. I mean I know God is great but my mind tries to reason things or make excuses for God instead of simply believing that He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we could ask or think.
