GFYD 1-21-12

Matthew 18:19-20 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

Who needs accountability? Everyone! Everyone needs someone to call upon when there is trouble, temptation, or even good news to share. No one is exempt from the need of a prayer partner. Our verse today tells us an even better reason to have someone in your life that will pray for you and with you. Jesus revealed a remarkable truth about prayer in this passage when He says that if two of us agree on earth, then His Father in heaven will do it! He goes on to say that when two of us come together under the name or authority of Jesus, then His Spirit decides to join to party! This is very important for us who prefer to pray in isolation because we are missing out on some dynamic power that is manifested in a unified prayer by two people. Think about it for a minute. When I pray, I sometimes limit my faith because I know me, and I remember my failures, and just in case I don't remember them, the devil reminds me of them and by doing so can cause my prayer to be less effective. But when I join up with someone and ask them to believe with me, they are not limited by my inadequacies, and they simply agree with me to receive what I am praying for. Hey, it's just a theory I know, but I know by my own experience that I often have more faith for others than I do for myself. As we come to the end of our 21 days to a consistent prayer life, I'm asking you to join up with a prayer partner that will pray for you or with you daily. Let's get serious about praying together!

  1. The word says " where two or three ARE GATHERED TOGETHER in My name". It sounds to me like Jesus puts people together! There something extremely powerful about praying in the perfect will of God. God's ways are higher than our ways, and when we line up with God's ways we see supernatural blessings manifest. It may be simple or it may seem to be modest but God's blessing are always good for us. We may not realize how awesome they are at the time but as His plan unfolds in our life we will!Anybody need a prayer partner?
