GFYD 11-11-11 "Teachable"

2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness.17 That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work.

Let's take a moment and look at a couple of these points today. First the Word of God is good for reproof. That means rebuke. It means to be critical. This is how I recognize sin in my life. In the book of Proverbs, the Bible tells us that "he who hates reproof is stupid" (12:1). It also says "whom the Lord loves He reproves" (3:12). Ouch! I don't know about you, but I'm thankful that I've got someone in my life that loves me enough to say "Hey, you're blowing it!" And then there is correction. Correction tells me how to change, and we all have things in our life that need to be changed. When you think about it, everything here in this passage is dealing with teaching. If we are not teachable, we will remain selfish, immature, baby Christians. But if we will get serious about God's Word, and become vulnerable and open to the rebuke, correction and training that is for our benefit, then and only then will we become the men and women of God that He has called us to be. Let's do it!
