Silent God

1 Samuel 3:1 And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision. During this time in Israel, God wasn't saying much. When He did speak, it wasn't good news, instead it was more often words of judgment. The reason for this was the hardness of the people's heart, and the corrupt ways of the priests. It wasn't that God didn't want to lead, but it was more about a people that didn't want to listen or follow. Unlike then, we now have the complete Word of God that we can open up and receive whenever we want. But similar to then, if our hearts become hard and our ways become corrupt, we too will refuse to hear what God so desperately wants to tell us. Lord help us not to take for granted your precious, abundant and living Word. Instead, let us be ever willing to hear it, and even more willing to obey it!

  1. God's Word is so valuable and precious. It is the One thing that can guide, correct, train, enlighten, expose, etc.... We need and should value God's Word more than any other thing in our daily lives.
