Scarlet Thread
Joshua 2:18 Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee.
Rahab was a harlot, the Bible doesn't hide that. She would be used by God to help Israel in their victory at Jericho. Because of her willingness to protect the spies, God would return the favor by sparing Rahab and her family from the destruction of the city. What would secure her safety? A scarlet thread hanging down from her window. That thread of redemption represented something so much bigger in the spiritual realm. God wasn't finished using this harlot named Rahab. God would include her in the lineage of King David and ultimately Jesus Christ! Yes, there is a scarlet thread of redemption that runs throughout the Old Testament. It can be traced through some very prominent men and women of God such as Moses, Joshua, David and Solomon, but one of the greatest instances of God's remarkable ability to make His glory known is found by tracing that scarlet thread to a window of the home of a harlot named Rahab. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!

I am really amazed that she was a mother of our Lord Jesus Christ. But, really we have all done to God what harlots do. We have all left God to be with something else. We all fall short. And just like Rahab, our willingness to surrender to God is key to our recovery! Redemption comes "IF" we say yes to whatever God says to do. We can't earn it, but we do have to surrender so we can receive it! After this takes place we want to tell others. I say yes!
ReplyDeleteYes Rahab WAS a harlot..thats a fact. So were we all prostituting ourselves to the things outside of Gods will and word. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Someplace along the line she heard enough of Gods word to belive and recognise Gods servants when the time arose. She also acted upon what she realized as the truth and because of that she received the free gift of redemption and her household.Jesus had not come yet the Law was their only written word, salvation came through the bloodline. She was of the right bloodline and when the word became "Remah" or alive in her her actions were put into action. Do your actions line up with what you belive to be truth? Rev. Diane
