Outnumbered, but No Match!

Judges 7:2 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me. The enemies of Israel were a great multitude, and it would seem that Israel was greatly over matched. That's why it must have sounded very peculiar when God looked at Gideon's army of 32,000 and basically said "you have too many"! Gideon let everyone that was afraid, to go back home. He now had 22,000. God said "too many". Gideon then watched them as they drank water, and some of them got down on all fours and drank like a dog, while others lapped the water out of their hand. Everyone who drank like a dog was told to go home, and Gideon's army was finally ready.......all 300 hundred of them! 300 against a great multitude? It isn't humanly possible, and that's exactly what God was looking for. God wanted everyone to know that it was Him who brought victory, not people. God works best in showing His might and power when we are weak, and have nothing to lean upon except His strong arm. It is in our weakness that His strength is made evident for all to see (2 Corinthians 12:9). When there seems to be no way, that's when God will make a way!
