Know what the Devil Knows

Numbers 13:33 "There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight."
Here we see two of the devil's best tactics. First, he got the Israelites to look at themselves in opposition to the giants. Compared to the giants, they looked so insignificant! No wonder they didn't want to fight, they wouldn't stand a chance. This scheme of Satan's uses a partial truth, which is something that he is very good at. It is true that the giants were much bigger than them. It is true that the inhabitants of the promised land were better equipped at fighting, and definitely had the home field advantage. But this information, albeit correct, was not even important, because Israel wouldn't be fighting against the Canaanites alone. As a matter of fact, they really wouldn't be fighting much at all. God would be fighting their battles. Sure, they would give it all they had, but all they had would never be enough. If they would have looked with eyes of faith, they would have seen that their God was more than enough to overcome their enemies no matter how big or impressive. The second trick here was to use a lie to bring fear into their hearts. There was some missing information that the devil used to deceive them with. They said "we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight." How did they know what the giants thought about them? Well, they didn't, but fear filled in the blanks. The truth is, that the inhabitants of the promised land greatly feared the children of Israel because they acknowledged that God was with them. Isn't that something? The enemy knew that God was with them, but they didn't! We must use this passage to help us from making the same mistakes. We can't look at ourselves, and try to figure how we stack up against our foes. We must focus on God, and know that we are on the winning side regardless of who or what stands in opposition to us. We must also never forget that the devil knows what we are capable of when we trust in God..........it's time that we know it, believe it, and use it!

  1. Yes Pastor, As I have learned in my walk, as soon as the devil puts thoughts in my mind. I REFUSE them. Not rebuke them but REFUSE them in the name of JESUS. This was shared with me on a mission trip years ago and it works . As soon as I say refuse the thoughts are gone. Praise God for what he allows when we just speak it in faith.ken

  2. I can understand how these doubters must have felt. Human emotions can be very difficult to deal with, especially when your means to deal with them are unhealthy! Help us Jesus grow our faith in You so we don't sit back and not take the land! No regrets! No fear! Just do it!
