Grace For Your Day 10-15-11

Philippians 3:13
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.....

Have you ever tried your best to move forward, only to find yourself taking two steps back each time? What is it that hinders our progress? I believe that our past is the biggest obstacle to our future, and it sounds like Paul feels the same way. I like how he puts it, "this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind". You will never move forward until you get out of reverse, and you'll never quit backing up until you learn how to forget what God has forgiven! Paul could relate very well, since he had spent much time and effort persecuting the church before he met Jesus up close and personal. He could have never reached the heights that he reached without forgetting what God had forgiven him. Now notice what comes next....."reaching forth unto those things that are before". The only thing as bad as not forgetting is not reaching. What are your goals? Do you have any? Can I challenge you to set them higher? God has big plans for you, bigger than you think, but you can get there, if you will forget what God has forgiven and reach for what God has said you can achieve. Amen
